Bringing Art, Bees, and Community Together

At Project Apis CIC, our hive painting projects are a colourful way to connect communities with nature. We work with schools, care homes, youth groups, and community organisations to turn plain wooden beehives into vibrant, one-of-a-kind works of art.

Why We Do It

Painting a hive isn’t just fun — it’s meaningful. Each decorated hive becomes part of a real, working community apiary. Participants get the chance to express themselves, learn about bees and pollination, and contribute something lasting to their local environment.

We’ve seen firsthand how creative projects like these can build confidence, encourage teamwork, and open up conversations about biodiversity and mental wellbeing. Whether it’s school children learning about ecosystems or care home residents reminiscing while they paint, every hive has a story.
