The Bee People of Lowestoft
There are countless films about bees.
This isn't one of them.
The Bee People of Lowestoft is a short film about the people who come together each week at our community apiary at Lowestoft North Cliff Community Garden, delivered in partnership with The Mayfly Café.
It tells the story of a growing community brought together through beekeeping, nature, and a shared desire to learn, volunteer, and support one another. While the bees are central to everything we do, this film is really about the people whose lives are enriched by spending time outdoors, building friendships, and becoming part of something bigger than themselves.
Beautifully filmed by Mark Sargeant, the film captures the atmosphere of our community apiary in a way that words often can't. From opening hives and observing honeybees at work to the quieter moments shared around the apiary, it offers a genuine glimpse into what Project Apis CIC is all about.
The soundtrack was written and performed by Lauren, one of our lead beekeepers at the Lowestoft apiary, who creates music under the name Tangles. Her original composition perfectly complements the film, reflecting the calm, reflective nature of the apiary and the connection many people find there.
Our community apiary sessions are free to attend and open to everyone, regardless of experience. Whether you're curious about beekeeping, looking to spend more time outdoors, hoping to meet new people, or simply wanting to reconnect with nature, you'll always be welcomed.
A huge thank you goes to Mark for creating this wonderful film, to Lauren for allowing us to use her beautiful music, and to every volunteer, participant, and supporter who continues to make our Lowestoft community apiary such a special place.
We hope you enjoy watching The Bee People of Lowestoft as much as we enjoyed being part of it.
If the film inspires you, why not come along to one of our sessions and meet the bees—and the people who make this community what it is.
